Trump
Tower back on track
Toronto: After putting the
original plan on hold for nearly 2 years Donald Trump vows to go
ahead with a 68-storey, $500M luxury hotel and condominium tower at
Bay and Adelaide streets in Toronto's Financial District.
Construction is expected to start early in 2005 with completion
targeted for 2008.
In a recently published statement Trump says this building will
"redefine the Toronto skyline and enrich the lives of those
privileged enough to live there". Indeed, a rooftop spire should
bring the final structural height of the building to 308 meters,
making it Canada's tallest. And with hotel suites ranging in price
from $470,000 to $4 million, and condos at $2.5 to $18 million, one
would expect an enriching experience.
The original plan was to be a collaboration with Ritz Carlton, but
the hotel group pulled out in 2002. According to Trump spokesman
Jeffrey Goodman however, the building's financing is now "solid"
with four major investors, including Trump and Talon International
Developments, with Trump operating and managing the property.
